Employee Experience Specialist

Prism Engineering is a Metro Vancouver-based engineering firm that specializes in energy management consulting services. We are committed to delivering innovative and quality engineering and sustainability services that meet our clients’ needs.  We are looking for a new Employee Experience Specialist (HR Generalist) to join our team and support Prism’s group of talented professionals - the driving force behind these services.

About You

You are a self-motivated, organized, people oriented HR Generalist who wants to have a positive impact with the work that you do.  You love to create processes and constantly seek ways to improve everything that you do.  Working with people is highly motivating for you and you have a warm, engaging way about you.  You have an eye for detail and can successfully manage multiple tasks, timelines and deliverables.  You are an advocate for ensuring a strong engaging employee experience within the workplace.

Your workday is constantly changing but generally includes updating existing & creating new HR policies, developing new programs and processes that align with the organization’s strategic objectives, leading the recruitment process in collaboration with the Team Leads, and managing the human resources tasks of the organization.  This is the only HR role within a successful stable 40 person engineering consulting firm so the ideal candidate will have a roll-up-their sleeves, team player attitude.  A strong HR foundation already exists so the opportunity is to streamline existing programs and proactively build culture-enabling employee-oriented processes.

The Employee Experience Specialist Role

This role works closely with Prism’s Leadership Team to deepen the human resources framework and foundation for the company.  Your primary focus is to ensure the quality and consistency of the human resources programs by:

  • Updating HR policies and procedures to ensure they meet the needs of this evolving organization
  • Designing recruitment processes that find new talent as required for the company while building a strong partnership with the Team Leads
  • Building on our strong sense of ‘work family’ by proactively looking for opportunities to integrate new cultural elements into our existing programs

Your role will also include working on a variety of operational human resources activities such as:

  • Managing the recruitment and onboarding process of new hires
  • Applying to grant and subsidies programs to fund employee positions
  • Coordinating the annual Performance Review process and supporting Team Leaders in the creation of individual Performance Development Plans
  • Drafting employee letters (employee confirmation letters, employee changes, etc.) as required
  • Tracking course offerings and managing the training and development budget

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience working with organizations on their people practices and human resources programs
  • A diploma or degree relevant to business or human resources is ideal but not necessary
  • Chartered Professional of Human Resources (CPHR) designation an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability with values that align with the company
  • Key skills and experience include the ability to effectively:
    • Build and maintain strong trusting relationships with employees and the Leadership Team
    • Think critically and look for process improvement opportunities
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to balance the needs of the business with a focus on our employee’s experience
    • Manage multiple tasks and projects
    • Adept and comfortable with technology
  • The following skills and experience are considered major assets:
    • Knowledge of BC employment law and legislation
    • Advanced MS Office including Excel
    • Knowledge and experience in designing and implementing solid best in class HR policies and processes
