Office Buildings
Prism Engineering
Energy UpgradesAs a demonstration project, Prism has made improvements to our office space inline with BC Hydro's Advanced Energy Office program. High quality lighting design, efficient plug loads and power management, HVAC performance and advanced metering are key elements in energy efficient office design.
Aeroplan
Renovations Aeroplan wished to convert 23,000 sqft of office space into a call centre. The cooling and ventilation requirements of the new high occupant density space were to be met using existing air handling systems in combination with new mechanical systems. Prism had experience with both the building and the team and was asked to be the mechanical engineer on the design team.
Austeville Properties
Mechanical System Upgrades By the late 1990s, Austeville's office building built in 1976 was failing. Mechanical systems--including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing--were all nearing the end of their lifespan. Austeville hired Prism as a lead consultant to work towards improving occupant comfort and system reliability.
Bentall Kennedy
Energy Management Planning Bentall Kennedy is one of North America's foremost real estate advisory and service organizations and boasts an impressive portfolio of downtown and suburban Vancouver office and industrial buildings. As an industry leader in sustainability, Bentall Kennedy sought an assessment of its energy savings opportunities to determine how to best move forward with an energy management program.
BOMA BC
Training BC's largest commercial real estate industry association sought to realize their vision of on-line energy management training for commercial building operators. They needed to develop a flexible yet comprehensive training program, accessible from remote locations, focused on the unique skill set of building operators.
Park Place
Water ConservationA review of water consumption showed that water usage was 63% higher when compared to similar buildings in the Lower Mainland. The main cause was the building's "once through" water-cooled condensers in air conditioning units which were primary used to cool the tenants' server rooms.
Scotia Tower in Vancouver
Mechanical System Upgrades When Property Manager GWL Realty Advisors took over management of a large office tower, they recognized an opportunity to reduce operating costs by upgrading infrastructure, with a focus on improving energy efficiency. The building had an inefficient cooling plant that was nearing the end of its life cycle and was using CFC refrigerant R11.
